POWER-CAST not only produces high-quality zinc die-cast parts but also specializes in high-end parts with extremely complicated geometries, including parting edges, sealing surfaces and tightest shape or position tolerances that require further mechanical processing.
We are setting a milestone in terms of sustainability with the introduction of "low-carbon zinc" in die casting, thereby significantly reducing the carbon footprint in the supply chain.
Low-Carbon Zinc is mined and produced exclusively with green energy. This zinc is the raw material for the Z410 die cast alloy we use. For our customers, it is important that the composition of Low-Carbon Z410 corresponds exactly to that of the conventionally produced alloy, with all its characteristics and advantages. The zinc production makes the difference, the alloy is the same.
Low-carbon zinc is zinc that is only extracted and produced with green energy. This achieves a CO2 footprint of less than 1.4 kg of CO2 per kilogram of zinc. In comparison, conventionally produced Z410 alloys generate about 4.4 kg of CO2 per kilogram of zinc.*
In terms of process, our focus is on fully exploiting and optimizing casting potentials and optimum mould design in zinc die casting processes together with precise CNC machining. We use not only conventional milling, drilling and turning machines but also state-of-the-art CNC-controlled milling machines. Customized machines are also available for special product or customer-specific work steps.
Our Czech plant, POWER-CAST Ortmann s.r.o., also offers plastic overmoulding and encapsulation that enable us to offer improved sliding and sealing properties for zinc die-cast parts. And our Techmire machines stand ready for the production of very small components.
