When Tightness Becomes a Mission

When tightness becomes a mission, solutions are created that stand the test of time – even under extreme pressure. This has been the formula for success at KID Imprägnier- und Dichttechnik GmbH (KID Sealing Solutions GmbH), market leader in the specialized field of contract impregnation, for more than four decades.

When tightness becomes a mission, solutions are created that stand the test of time – even under extreme pressure. This has been the formula for success at KID Imprägnier- und Dichttechnik GmbH for more than four decades, known across the European market as KID Sealing Solutions GmbH.

The company’s headquarters in Hagen, Germany, seals cast components as well as electric, electronic, and hybrid components.

Headquartered in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, the company is the market leader in the specialized field of contract impregnation and stands for one promise that matters across all industries: absolute tightness.

“Our customers face enormous economic and technological pressure. Anyone casting components must produce them tight, sustainable, and cost-efficiently to remain competitive,” explains owner and Managing Director Markus Alterauge. “KID today represents a holistic solution: from classic contract impregnation to customized systems and modern, environmentally friendly impregnation materials. This allows us to create the perfect combination of quality, efficiency, and flexibility for every customer.”

Two Paths, One Goal: Tightness Without Compromise

What began in 1980 as KID Imprägnier- und Polymertechnik GmbH is now a European network of competence centers, state-of-the-art technology, and decades of expertise.

Today, KID customers have two options:
They can rely on the proven contract impregnation services at one of the IATF 16949 certified KID competence centers across Europe – ensuring fast turnaround times and the highest quality standards.
Or they can choose KID’s unique on-site impregnation model, provided directly at the customer’s own facility.

“With our on-site service, we bring impregnation directly into our customers’ production lines,” says Alterauge. This reduces logistics costs and inventory volumes while enabling seamless integration into existing processes – without investment in machinery or additional personnel. “This mobile, temporary solution provides maximum flexibility, especially in times of economic and technological uncertainty, when investment decisions must be carefully considered.”

With around 180 employees across ten competence centers in Europe, KID impregnates components individually according to each customer’s needs.

Growing Through Experience, Advancing Through Conviction

Always in tune with the industry, KID understands the practical challenges customers face: tight cycle times, rising quality requirements, and low planning reliability. With its latest solution, the company is taking the next step:

“Our customers need to react flexibly,” says Alterauge. “That’s why we offer solutions that adapt to their needs – not the other way around.”

In addition to its flexible on-site service, KID offers further tailored solutions: customized impregnation systems and the matching impregnation resins.
To ensure the highest level of quality, KID collaborates with one of Germany’s most successful mechanical engineering companies: Schuster Maschinenbau from Bavaria. This partnership combines decades of practical experience with innovative engineering. The outcome: highly efficient, customized impregnation systems that guarantee maximum process reliability with minimal resin consumption and wastewater generation – fully tailored to component, production volume, and location.

This interplay of practical know-how, technical expertise, and service-oriented thinking makes KID the only provider approaching impregnation from A to Z – from development and production to full process sup.

A Clear Vision for the Future

The concept is paying off: KID is seeing increasing demand for customized on-site solutions and will open a new competence center in Eastern Germany next year – located directly on a customer’s site. “This close proximity to our customers is the core of our success,” emphasizes Alterauge.

At EUROGUSS 2026, KID and partner Schuster will present the full spectrum of modern impregnation technology – from classic contract impregnation to on-site models, state-of-the-art system solutions, and sustainable resin technologies (LOCTITE products).
“Our mission remains the same: We make components tight. Efficiently, sustainably, and reliably. Only now, we offer more possibilities than ever before,” summarizes Markus Alterauge.
