Three HyperHybrid vehicles, powered by Sub Zero Methanol, demonstrated how mobility can go beyond being climate-neutral to becoming climate-positive. Every kilometer driven actively removed CO₂ from the atmosphere, capturing a total of three kilograms of carbon during the trip.
The OBRIST Group views Sub Zero Methanol and the HyperHybrid concept as key contributions to the global energy and mobility transition, offering a path for humanity to move away from fossil fuels and enter a new energy era.
With over 250 registered patents and a strong focus on climate-positive technologies, OBRIST continues to set new standards for sustainable energy and mobility.
Special thanks go to technology partners ICODOS, KIT, and UP Catalyst, with whom OBRIST implemented the world’s first Sub Zero Methanol demonstration plant at the Mannheim sewage treatment plant. There, green methanol is produced from atmospheric and biological CO₂ – creating a fuel that is not only emission-free, but net CO₂-negative.
