CHINA DIECASTING successfully into the post-pandemic era

CHINA DIECASTING 2023 took place from 12 to 14 July at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) under the theme "Step into the Era of Mega Die Casting". On around 37,000 square metres of exhibition space, 463 companies presented their products, technologies and services, attracting more than 20,000 trade visitors from the non-ferrous metals, die casting products and equipment sectors to the trade fair, which is organised by NürnbergMesse together with the Foundry Institute of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (FICMES).

On the morning of the first day of the fair, the opening ceremony was held with the organizer, the partners and the exhibitors' representatives. Xie Huasheng, Vice Chairman of FICMES, and Darren Guo, Managing Director of NürnbergMesse China, welcomed the guests.

Following the trend of producing vehicles with alternative drive technologies, the fair set up the "New Energy Block" exhibition area and invited carmakers Leapmotor and Faw Hongqi Nev to jointly exhibit their New Energy Vehicles (NEV). The integration technology of Leapmotor's CTC battery chassis attracted a lot of attention on site.

At the "NEV (New Energy Vehicle) and Lightweight Forum", experts from Chery, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Technology Center, CITIC Daika, FAW Foundry - Casting Mould Equipment Factory, Chongqing and Millison were invited to share solutions for NEV manufacturing and lightweighting based on practical experience.

In cooperation with GF Casting Solutions, the fair set up the "Special Area of Car Body and Structural Parts", which visually demonstrated how closely the die casting industry is linked to automotive manufacturing.

The exhibition also featured a special theme hall that housed integrated die casting technology and equipment, a technical forum and an industry showcase. Here, leading companies and pioneers in the industry presented their technological applications and solutions for integrated die casting processes on an industrial scale.

On display in the exhibition area was a very large integrated die casting for the rear floor, supplied by FAW Foundry. It was produced on a 9000 tonne die casting machine and used an alloy developed in-house by FAW Foundry that requires no heat treatment. It has high strength, fluidity, castability and connectivity, reflecting the leading technical standards in China.

At the “Annual Innovation Technology and Product Selection for the Die Casting Industry” event, ten technologies were selected for technology and production development after a rigorous on-site evaluation process. This event was broadcast live via video streaming for domestic and foreign visitors.

The content of the so-called "Casting Carnival" 2023 was once again significantly upgraded. A total of 91 companies and 145 castings were invited to participate in this event.

This year's selection of high-quality die castings included a total of 59 castings from 40 companies. The best castings and moulds were selected on-site as part of the evaluation by a committee of experts.

During CHINA DIECASTING 2023, a number of high-quality events were also held on the topics of "Mould Design and 3D Printing", "Non-ferrous Casting Equipment" and "New Material Research and Application", among many others. The visitors on site were offered exciting lectures and technical exchange.

The three-day show attracted high-profile trade visitors from the die casting applications sector to Shanghai. The share of trade visitors from R&D, engineering technology and procurement from NEV manufacturers such as Tesla, Nio, Xpeng, Leading Ideal, BYD, Human Horizons, Xiaomi increased significantly. At the same time, companies from the communications industry such as Huawei and Ericsson were welcomed. The arrival of visitors from overseas once again enabled the direct exchange of technology and trade in the global die casting industry.
At the awards ceremony with elite dinner, the organisers presented numerous awards. Around 500 industry leaders gathered to see the changes that have taken place in the die casting industry over the past two years. The organisers thanked all partners and industry experts who actively supported the exhibition.
