ArGeZ views the European Commission’s “Made in Europe” proposal positively in principle. A stronger anchoring of European value creation could help secure the industrial base and increase resilience against external shocks. ArGeZ also regards future state support in the EU being limited to zero-emission vehicles as a legitimate political objective. At the same time, technological openness must remain in place beyond 2035, and combustion engines should not be banned. The changes introduced through the European Commission’s Automotive Package are seen by the industry as a step in the right direction towards technological competition for the best drive systems.
