The Siempelkamp Foundry has established several bee colonies on its factory premises in Krefeld - in cooperation with a regional beekeeper. The approach goes beyond symbolic measures: it combines industrial production with active environmental protection and makes sustainability a tangible experience for employees, partners and the public.
"For us, sustainability means more than just CO₂ reduction. It also includes the protection of biodiversity and responsibility for our environment," says Managing Director Dr. Georg Geier.
Bees as an environmental indicator and part of the corporate culture
Through their pollination activities, bees make an ecological contribution to local biodiversity and CO₂ sequestration. At the same time, as indicators they reflect the quality of the immediate habitat. The honey bottled under the name “Iron Gold”, produced by the company bees, symbolizes this commitment. Employees receive it as part of the harvest - a visible sign of shared responsibility.
