For lightweight design, we have combined topology optimization - especially for the multitude of crash safety relevant situations - with a response surface optimization approach. This optimization uses AI and machine learning, to classify and cluster the results of large multidisciplinary optimization studies with more than 1000 individual simulations, to optimize for the desired component behavior.
At the same time, we simulate the manufacturability of the structure in order to rule out casting defects and analyze different alternatives. and to consider the performance and manufacturability of the structure together at an early stage in the development process.
