+++ The entries in the following exhibitor & product database correspond to the registration status for EUROGUSS 2022 from 7 December 2021. +++
In over 100 years that began as a lubricant-dealer, Geiger + Co. Schmierstoff-Chemie GmbH has developed into a leading producer of high-quality release agents and lubricants for die casting.
Demanding times with demanding tasks
After the last Euroguss 2020, the entire die casting industry and the rest of the world were confronted with new challenges which could neither be expected in this form, nor could they be handled by prefabricated master plans.
It was necessary to provide the company's own production with safety concepts in order to ensure reliable supplies to the markets.
Infection chains had to be monitored and flexible responses had to be made accordingly with work models such as home offices, separate offices and staggered shifts, etc.
As an internationally active company, we were faced not only with the organization of internal activities, but also with the task of simultaneously meeting the demanding market conditions that required a high degree of flexibility. These were manifested, for example, in the raw material and transport markets, but also in a strongly varying order situation. In mid-2020, for example, call-offs in Europe were still declining due to Corona, while the Chinese market had already recovered to a large extent.
In addition, the topic of e-mobility was gaining momentum and was presenting us all with changed requirements.
New circumstances have to be taken into account here, which have prompted us to take new steps on the development side and to further expand the course already set. The topic of selfhardening alloys is one of these points, as we were able to demonstrate during our presentation at last year's Euroguss Mexico.
The ubiquitous topic of sustainability must also be seen in this context and has prompted us to develop label-free release agents. The use of our lubricants in a way that is harmless to health and can therefore be guaranteed in the long term had to be taken into account. Examples of this are the W2020 and W 2025 series, which are groundbreaking with their new biocide concept and do not require labeling.
Moreover, this context includes the topic of minimum quantity spraying as well, including all raw material and energy savings, and has led to various development projects that have ultimately flowed or will flow into series production.
In the area of piston lubricants, a trend toward oil-based products seems to be emerging. Improved dosing systems, which allow clean working, but of course also new piston systems are basic conditions here, which in many cases make a rethink necessary.
As if this were not enough of a challenge for all of us, 2021 is also characterized by issues such as raw material price increases, availability and chip shortages.
Thanks to our focus on proven, European raw material suppliers and our forward-looking warehousing, we can nevertheless reliably guarantee delivery readiness.
As a traditional company in our industry, specializing in the field of release agents, we have development work, production and logistics in one location. This gives us the flexibility, independence and security that are required and necessary in times like these.
Overall, and despite the points mentioned above, we were nevertheless able to close 2020 with far more positive figures than we had expected at mid-year. Furthermore, we can also rate 2021 as a success despite, or rather because of a challenging end to the year.
This is particularly pleasing because, as a producer of release agents with an active history of over 60 years, we want to be a reliable partner to our customers. This includes not only good support by application engineers who are available on all sides, but also the permanent guarantee of delivery capability and short delivery times. Not without pride we can claim to have met these requirements since the beginning of the pandemic and we will do our utmost to stick to them in the coming time.
We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and hope that the trade fair will be as trouble-free as possible, giving us all the opportunity to once again hold interesting discussions in the context of personal contacts.
