Since the merger of the three associations GDM, DGV and VDG, the BDG (Association of the German Foundry Industry) represents more than 600 foundries and suppliers, nearly half of them being concerned with and operating in the non-ferrous metals field. The BDG offers advice in every crucial area of the market, providing support in technical, economical, environmental, fiscal and corporate-policy questions. The BDG lobbies the interests of its members in all relevant economical and technical aspects towards authority boards, institutes as well as other associations.
In addition to that the BDG promotes foundry related research and development by the affiliated FVG (Research Association Foundry Technology).
The BDG is a member of international foundry associations such as WFO and CAEF.
