Copper Titanium Core Pins, Inserts and Chill Vents
Copper Titanium QTi® Core Pins & Inserts are have high strength and good conductivity. It maintains its hardness even working at elevated temperatures. Core Pins, Inserts and Chill Vents made of Copper Titanium alloy can extract heat quickly from the molten metal and solidify it quickly thereby reducing porosity and shrinkage defects. QTi® alloy provides excellent corrosion resistance and inherent lubricity and galling resistance.
Core Pins, Inserts or Chill Vents made of tool steel or other alloys used for die casting have very poor thermal conductivity due to which they are unable to extract heat quickly from the castings. This leads to uneven cooling of castings resulting in high porosity and shrinkage defects. Core Pins, Inserts work effectively when they are able to extract and dissipate heat quickly, allowing the casting to cool faster and more uniformly across the cross section.
QTi® Inserts are much stronger than other competing copper alloys and exhibit thermal conductivity up to 5 times greater than steel pins. High hardness of Copper Titanium alloy provides excellent wear resistance – this significantly increases the life of the Pin.
Chill Block and Chill-Vents which are often used in permanent molds of Aluminium and Magnesium Die castings are also made of Copper Titanium alloy.
