Godfrey & Wing Inc. provides a range of engineered solutions including its fully robotic Continuous Flow Impregnation technology (CFi), the modular HVLV, the compact EcoSeal, and the Advanced Powertrain Impregnation (APi) systems. All systems are designed with a focus on providing a pressure tight seal while conserving resources. GW’s compact, modular impregnation technology enables OEMs and sub-tier suppliers to quickly and easily incorporate insourced impregnation into their normal work flow.
Many companies have a strategy that one system, process or sealant fits all applications. Godfrey & Wing believes that when competing in a global economy, customers need a strategy that looks upstream and downstream in the manufacturing process then incorporates the appropriate impregnation equipment, process and sealant solution. This is where Godfrey & Wing outperforms the others – we tailor systems to your application and environment.
Whether it is our groundbreaking single piece flow Continuous Flow Impregnation (CFi) System or a batch processing system, our team of skilled engineers will design a system and process that fits any production schedule, part specification or floor-space constraint. The key to our success is that we not only design and build impregnation systems, we run them, and have done so continuously since 1948 – longer than any other company in the world. We know what seals parts, cost effectively and reliably. It is our business and remains our core competency over 65 years later.
Continuous Flow Impregnation (CFi)
Dry Vacuum and Positive Pressure Porosity Sealing System
The Continuous Flow Impregnation (CFi) system uses patented dry vacuum and pressure technology and was originally developed more than a decade ago as the first front loading vacuum impregnation system with robotic part handling. The fully automated system, which has now been implemented in numerous automotive engine and transmission assembly plants, can be integrated into advanced machining and assembly lines.
These systems utilize robotic part handling that eliminates the need for labor and can reach takt times as low as 90 seconds. Tight, repeatable process controls along with robust process steps (such as vacuum levels of less than 5 torr, centrifuging parts up 250 rpm, and highly effective wash systems) have led to drastically improved results over what used to be the industry standard. Where the world used to accept an 80% part recovery, rates of better than 99.8% are fast becoming the new norm.
HVLV Vacuum Impregnation
Dry Vacuum and Positive Pressure Porosity Sealing System
Godfrey & Wing’s HVLV vacuum impregnation system utilizes patented Continuous Flow Impregnation and dry vacuum and pressure (DVP) technology. The HVLV is capable of processing over 1000 pounds of castings per hour. It is ideal for sealing castings such as engines, gearboxes, brake parts or climate compressors/components in a footprint of less than 25.6 meters of floor space. Godfrey & Wing HVLVs are installed in locations throughout the United States and Europe.
The HVLV has significantly reduced the resources (labor, floor space, sealant and electricity) required while delivering near 100% sealing performance. The system features compact, easy to operate units that enable in-house impregnation to be both practical and profitable, providing companies with a competitive advantage in the global marketplace.
