In die casting processes, as well as in other moulding processes the thermal control has significant impact on quality and productivity. An unsteady thermal balance in the die leads to porosity and distortion of the parts. The cycle time and the die life may also be affected.
DIE THERM™ is a computer controlled system for the regulation of the thermal balance in diecasting dies. The system is applicable in die casting processes and also in other thermal sensitive processes.
The components of the system are DIE THERM™ Control and DIE THERM™ Design.
DIE THERM™ Control is the device that permanently measures temperatures and flow volumes. Based on the data analysis the system adjusts the flow rate for each cooling line.
The DIE THERM™ Design Module of the Thermal Software is the tool used to calculate targeted heat removal amounts to which the Control System controls.
DIE THERM™ is a product of DIE THERM ENGINEERING LLC, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. Schaufler Tooling uses the DIE THERM™ Design method for cooling line layouts. The technology is patented in US and other major markets and is available in North America and Europe.
