Lightweight construction - a future technology
Nowadays, the automotive industry is confronted with the challenge to build cars which are more and more safe and economical. An essential factor for the economy of cars is the use of lightweight construction materials. Such a reduction of weight can be achieved by the extended use of components in magnesium in vehicles. DGS produces steering components in highly ductile alloys in magnesium, which meets the requirements of the OEM's in an optimal way. In different cars and classes such steering components in magnesium of DGS are applied already. In spite of many new assistance systems in modern cars these steering components are highly relevant regarding safety and comfort.
The last few years increased the production of magnesium parts in our foundries. In 2015 we processed more than 5000t, with tendency to rise. Due to enormous investments in new die casting cells, modern machining centres and appropriate infrastructure we are still able to fulfil the requirements of automotive industry.
Our production sites are equipped with state-of-the-art and complex machining lines and measuring rooms with 3D-measuring devices. With this we facilitate an optimal online production with complete quality surveillance and without unnecessary process interfaces. Our production includes not only casting but as well vibratory grinding, machining and assembling of components. Within the limits of development of processes for DGS as well is essential an ecological and energy-saving production. That’s why we support for example in-house recycling of alloys.
